"Uirapuru" has two basic areas: telerobotic fish control and 3D shared virtual world, and they are interconnected. When participants log on into the virtual world the telerobotic fish "sings" in the gallery and online (i.e., it plays the real Uirapuru song). When participants control the telerobotic fish locally or via the Web it moves accordingly in the gallery. Sonar units in the gallery track the movement of the real telerobotic fish and the telerobotic fish's avatar moves in the virtual space according to x,y,z data generated from the movement of the real telerobotic fish in the gallery. Video from the point of view of the telerobotic fish is streamed live on the web. Songs from Uirapuru and other Amazonian birds are also streamed live on the Web.

" Uirapuru posee dos áreas básicas: control telerobótico en forma de pez y mundo virtual (vrml) compartido en 3-D, y ambos estan interconectados.Cuando los participantes se conectan al mundo virtual el pez telerobótico "canta" tanto en la galeria como on line (i.e., este reproduce el canto verdadero del Uirapuru). Cuando los participantes controlan localmente o via Web -Internet- el pez telerobótico se mueve correspondientemente en el interior de la galeria. Unidades de SONAR ubicadas en las galerias trazan el movimiento real del pez telerobótico y el AVATAR del pez telerobótico se mueve dentro del espacio virtual de acuerdo a las correspondientes coordenadas x, y, z, generadas por el movimiento del pez telerobótico en la galeria.El  VIDEO desde el punto de vista del pez telerobótico es transmitido en vivo via WEB.
